Paraty was founded in 1660 and in the 18th century gained fame and wealth as a result of the discovery of gold in the neighboring state of Minas Gerais. Paraty Bay, with its still wild beaches and over 65 tropical islands, is one of the most beautiful places in the Brazilian coastline. Its clear and calm waters, full of colorful fish, are ideal for swimming and diving including snorkeling and scuba. During Easter, Paraty is very lively with many international visitors celebrating the religious festival.

You'll spend three nights at a charming pousada in Paraty, from where you can explore the ancient cobbled streets, which contain many hidden surprises. Take a boat trip around the bay and enjoy swimming and diving in the crystal clear waters.

For your eleven nights in Rio de Janeiro, your accommodation will be at a selected Copacabana beach front hotel. A full day city orientation tour is included for guests new to Rio and there is a wide choice of other optional tours. A comprehensive brochure describing Rio and its life is provided, and when you need help professional English speaking guides are available to assist with your plans.
